Disappointment

Have you ever been disappointed? Why? Disappointment is typically when we desire something or want
circumstances to go our way and when this doesn't happen, we get disappointed. I had this experience
just this past week. There was something I wanted very badly. On the surface it looked great and the price
was exceptional. I was excited about it! The day after I spotted this opportunity it came to a screeching
halt and my hope sunk. I told myself that God led me to that circumstance and all the “signs” pointed to
confirm it. So what happened? Now I had a decision to make. How was I going to handle this
disappointment?
You see, I was believing that God led me there. Perhaps He did, and if He did, why didn't it happen? Did
I wait too long, pondering all the facts? Was I too hesitant to jump on it? I guess there's a good chance I'll
never know the answer to that question for sure. But what I do know for sure is that God has my best interest
at heart. I have to trust that if this was truly something He desired for me, it would have happened. For on the
surface it appeared to be a sure-fire thing. But underneath, it may have been a disaster. Then again, perhaps
I missed the boat because of fear and doubt. In that case, I cannot “beat myself up” for missing it. I need to
learn from it.
Either way, I trust that God has an even better opportunity in store for me. And when that circumstance comes
around, there will be no doubt or fear, for God has not give me a spirit of fear.
